The ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction plans create demands for constant renewable energy capacity growth, and biogas is certainly one of most sustainable energy sources at the moment.

Biogas is produced in multiple fields, among the main agriculture and livestock industry. It can also be upgraded to biomethane and injected on gas network, or used as a fuel in a CHP engine to generate electricity, converting waste into a profit resource, thus demonstrating the concept of circular economy.

However, to reuse biogas generated in anaerobic digestion, it is essential to eliminate pollutants content, mainly hydrogen sulphide (H2S) that deteriorates CHP engines, generates odors, and in high concentrations can be poisonous and harm the environment.

There are different technologies capable to remove H2S from biogas streams, but the most remarkably clean and sustainable are the biological desulphurisation technologies, also with the best performances in terms of highest flow and H2S load ratio.

Over the last years, ECOTEC with a background experience of more than 30 years in gas treatment technologies, has focused on biogas field and on developing dBiox® biological desulphurisation systems, specially designed and optimized for a more efficient H2S elimination at highest loads (40.000 ppmv or more) as handling very high flow rates (> 1000 m3/h).

With several dBiox® plants already in operation ECOTEC offers best desulphurisation performances at low OPEX costs and short-term investment returns.
